ownkey · private AI input

A keyboard you actually own.

Voice typing and AI input on Android and Windows — without sending your words to someone else's servers. Bring your own API key. Your words stay yours.

Your keys. Your voice. Your space.

01The promise

Private by default. Not by settings.

Useful AI usually means giving up your data. Ownkey refuses the trade-off: full-featured input, zero data harvesting.

Private by default

Privacy isn't a setting to find. It's the state you start in.

No data collection

We don't harvest, sell, or phone home. There's nothing to leak.

Bring your own key

Your AI provider, your account, your control. We're just the keyboard.

Open by design

Built in the open, on every platform. The code is the proof.

Ownkey Keyboard

A full Android keyboard with dictation and AI rewrite built in — and your own provider behind it.

01

Speak when it's faster

Tap the mic. Speak freely. Stop when done. Your speech becomes text through your own provider.

02

Rewrite when it's messy

Fix grammar. Make it shorter. Change the tone. Select text and let your model clean it up.

03

Choose your own AI

OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, OpenRouter, or a custom endpoint. Your key stays encrypted on-device.

04

No keyboard-content monitoring

No added monitoring of what you type or say. Open source — read every line.

Ownkey for Windows

Push-to-talk dictation for the desktop. Hold a hotkey, speak, release — your words are typed into whichever app has focus.

01

Hold to talk

Hold Right Alt, speak, release. A short ping tells you the mic is armed.

02

Types anywhere

Browser, editor, chat, terminal — if it takes text, Ownkey types into it.

03

Rewrite on the fly

Auto-clean your dictation, or select text, hold Right Ctrl, and say what should change.

04

Voxtral, your key

Transcription runs through your own Mistral account. Runs quietly from the system tray.

04Bring your own key

Your key. Your provider. Your bill.

Ownkey doesn't run servers between you and your AI. There's no middleman to trust, because there's no middleman.

step 01

Get a key

From OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, OpenRouter — or point at your own endpoint.

step 02

Paste it once

It's stored on your device and nowhere else. Swap providers whenever you like.

step 03

Speak

Audio goes from your device to your provider, and text comes back. That's the whole route.

No account. No subscription. No telemetry. Pay your provider, not us.

Both apps are MIT-licensed and developed in the open. Inspect them, fork them, build them yourself.
